DAY OF PLAY

As proof of residency, registered golfers must present their card to the Cashier. Non-registered golfers must present a drivers license. Payment for green fees and cart fees paid in cash only.
  • When the Office opens in the morning, available tee times will be issued to "walks-ins" on a first come, first served basis every day of the year, weekdays - one scheduled walk-in spot per hour & weekends - two scheduled walk-in spots per hour.
  • Singles or golfers in groups of 2 to 4 may select from available tee times.
  • Once a time is reserved, golfers may then return 20 minutes before the scheduled time.
  • "Walk-ins" also have the option to be placed on a waiting list to be on call for an opening.
  • Golfers must sign-in, in person, to be placed on the waiting list.
  • Once on the waiting list, the golfer is expected to remain on the premises and be available when his/her name is called on the PA system.
  • The Manager reserves the right to fill in groups from the waiting list as soon as places become available.
  • If the player has left the premises and/or does not respond to the PA call, that player will be passed over and their name will be placed at the bottom of the waiting list upon their return to the Course. The PA system reaches the restaurant, putting greens & practice area, however, it does NOT reach the parking lot.
  • CALL-IN: A player has the option to call the office at (201) 447-6067 between 10:00 and 10:30 AM to select an available tee time after 1PM of that day only. Both registered and non-registered golfers may make these reservations.
  • DELAY POLICY: When playing conditions require a delay in the start of the day's play, golfers must still be present for their scheduled time. When play begins, tee times will be compressed & at the Manager's discretion, some groups may start at the tenth tee. If a group does not respond to a page, they will be placed at the end of the waiting list.
All golfers are required to check-in at the Office at least 20 minutes prior to scheduled tee time or forfeit tee time to a player on the waiting list and be required to pay a $10.00 fee.
Golfers are required to use spikeless or soft-spike golf shoes.

GOLF COURSE RESTAURANT

THE LEGEND OF THE WALKER HOUSE

The Paramus Golf Course Restaurant was built in 1792, and was originally used as a carriage house for farmers going to the market and for other travelers. The house would serve as a protection from the elements for some of the less fortunate in the area and for them it was the only shelter they knew. Tragically, in 1867, the barn accidentally caught fire and four persons lost their lives in a building they called home. Although their identities were never known, some say that their spirits still exist and roam the building. Remnants of the fire can still be seen in the charred wood of the original beams.
In 1928, the building was converted into the clubhouse for the Saddle River Golf and Country Club. The first professional at the club was Mr. Cyril Walker. Having won the 1924 US Open, Mr. Walker was a legendary figure and though despite his diminutive stature, could hit a ball as far as anyone in his day. In 1998, the concession building was dubbed The Walker House in honor of Mr. Walker, whose portrait is proudly displayed above the fireplace.

Though there may be doubts to the existence of ghosts in the building, there is no doubt to the existence of Mr. Walker and the legacy he left at this golf course. Sometimes when a fire is burning just right, you look into his eyes and it is almost as he is winking at you, telling you he's proud to be home again and thanking all of us for remembering him and not letting him become one of yesterday's forgotten heroes. Mr. Walker is proud to be where he always felt he belonged.... at the Paramus Golf Course.

If you ever need to get in touch with us, please call us at (201) 447-2014

The Carriage Clubhouse and Grill staff hopes that you enjoy your stay at the Paramus Golf Course!!
