Welcome to Paramus Recreation.  On the right hand side you will find links to our online resources, including online registration.  If you have any questions you can always call us and we'll be happy to assist in any way we can.

The Recreation Office is staffed weekdays between the hours of 8:30 a.m. & 4:30 p.m. as well as Thursday evenings (subject to change) between 7:00 p.m. & 8:45 p.m.  Aside from specially designated in person registration days (see below), registrations will not be taken during the morning hours or after 4:00 p.m.

 

REGISTRATION DATES

Spring registration for 2014 will begin with online registration on March 3.  Mail in registration will be open from March 3 to March 12.  In person registration will be held on March 17 and March 18.  Late registrations will be accepted starting on March 19, a $4 per person, per activity late fee will apply.

Summer and Fall registration for 2014 will begin with online registration on May 5.  Mail in registration will be open from May 5 to May 13.  In person registration will be held on May 19 and May 20.  Late registrations will be accepted starting on May 21, a $4 per person, per activity late fee will apply.

Winter registration for 2014-2015 will begin with online registration on October 6.  Mail in registration will be open from October 6 to October 14.  In person registration will be held on October 20 and October 21.  Late registrations will be accepted starting on October 22, a $4 per person, per activity late fee will apply.

 

VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED

Many of the youth activities offered in our brochure rely on volunteer coaches. Anyone wishing to coach any youth activity must complete both an Intent to Coach Form and an Ethics Form. All volunteer coaches must take part in and pass the Rutger's S.A.F.E.T.Y. Clinic. All candidates will be subject to a background check. Click here for additional information.

The Terri Roemer Paramus Run

The Run features a 5K Road Race, a 10K Road Race, a 5K Health Walk and a 1 Mile Fun Run. More information, or to register, please visit: www.paramusrun.com

Pumpkin Hunt

The event will be held on Saturday October 25 and will start at 10:00am for pre-schoolers, 10:30am for kindergartners and 11:00am for 1st grade and up.  Everyone is encouraged to wear a costume!  Plaques in each level will be awarded for: Most Creative Use of Materials, Most Original Concept, Funniest, Scariest, Most Exquisite, Best Representation of an Athlete, Best Representation of an Animal/Cartoon/Character/Icon, Most Patriotic, Best Group and Best Costumed Animal.  In the event of rain, a modified version of te event will be held indoors at East Brook School in the old gym.

Tree Lighting Ceremony & Winter Carnival

The Winter Carnival will include inflatables, rides and games. The Tree Lighting and Winter Carnival will be held at the Borough Hall Complex conclude with the ceremonial lighting of the Christmas tree.  The date and time are TBD.

Youth Holiday Party

This event is geared towards children age 3 to 7.  Tentative plans include refreshments, small prizes and an appearance by Santa and friends.  Although the event is free, tickets will be required.  Proof of residency will be required.  First come first serve, with a limit of six per family.  No more than two adult tickets will be given per family.  Every single person in attendance needs a ticket.  This party is for Paramus residents and their children only.  Those who cannot come in person to pick up their tickets can mail a self addressed and stamped envelope.  The Youth Holiday Party will be held on Saturday December 6 beginning at 10:00am.

Easter Egg Hunt

The annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Satuday, April 12 at Petruska Park.  Preschoolers will start their hunt at 10:00am.  Kindergarten will start their hunt at 10:30am.  First grade and up will start their hunt at 11:00am.  In the event of inclement weather the Easter Egg Hunt will be held indoors at East Brook School.  If the weather is questionable, call the Recreation Office answering maching (201-265-9321) after 9:30am to learn of any changes. 

Senior Citizen "Spring Fling"

The annual Spring Fling for Senior Citizens will be held on Friday June 6 from 11:00am-3:00pm at Petruska Park.  The rain dates for the program are Friday June 13th and Friday June 20th, if necessary.  The fee for this event is $5 and is nonrefundable.  Tickets will be available at Petruska Park.  Proof of residency (driver's license, tax bill, utility bill) will be required.  It is recommended that those who attend bring their own lawn chairs.
