Affordable Housing

Overview

Paramus Affordable Housing's primary objective is to offer and provide qualified, low and moderate-income families, individuals, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities with opportunities for obtaining affordable housing while at the same time promoting economic self-sufficiency for families and individuals, continued independent living for senior citizens, and reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities.

Affordable housing is considered affordable to those with a median household income or below as rated by the national government or local governments. Housing would be "affordable" if it deemed no more than 30% of the monthly household income for rent and utilities. Most affordable housing developments are built for families and individuals with incomes of 60% or less than the area median income (AMI).
