[ARCHIVED] Alzheimer's NJ Walk to Fight Alzheimers

Alzheimers NJ Walk

Alzheimers NJ Walk

SAVE THE DATE! Alzheimer’s New Jersey Walk to Fight Alzheimer’s® will be held on Sunday, October 27th at the field area behind the Technology Building at Bergen Community College, 400 Paramus Road, Paramus, NJ. This is Alzheimer’s New Jersey’s largest fundraising event to support New Jersey individuals and families that are impacted by Alzheimer’s disease. Funds raised through Walk to Fight Alzheimer's® support their programs and services such as Helpline, Care Consultations, the Respite Care and Wellness program, Family Support Groups, Always Safe®, and Clinical Trial Connections®, as well as research. Over 600,000 people in New Jersey are affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia, including 180,000 individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers.

There will be registration at 8:30 am, a Kick-Off Rally at 9:30 am followed by the Walk at 10:00 am. There is plenty of free parking available in the lots at Bergen Community College. Please note that dogs are not allowed on the campus at Bergen Community College.

After the walk, individuals are invited to remain to enjoy post-walk activities that include refreshments, music and door prizes. Door prizes will be raffled off from the stage. Free raffle tickets (one per registered walker) will be given out by volunteers and staff after the walk to those who want to stay for the drawing. In addition, there will also be a Halloween Costume Contest for children under 12.

To register or make a donation, visit WWW.ALZNJ.ORG/WALK. For further information regarding the Walk to Fight Alzheimer's®, call 888-280-6055 or contact Jean Smith, Special Events Coordinator for the Northern Regional Office in Oradell at 201-261-6009.

A promotional flyer is attached for your review and to network. With Alzheimer’s Disease affecting so many individuals and families, please spread the word among your personal and professional contacts. Here is a golden opportunity to raise awareness and support this organization and their mission to respond to the needs of people in New Jersey who are affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

New Jersey residents rely on Alzheimer's New Jersey® for personal and confidential assistance, guidance, relief from care giving, emotional support and education, safety awareness, and clinical trial opportunities as they face the emotional and financial challenges of Alzheimer's disease that can often be overwhelming. For more information on Alzheimer’s New Jersey visit www.alznj.org.

Despite the emotional pain and sorrow of having a loved one with Alzheimer’s, this promises to be a special event filled with laughter among the tears. Importantly, 100% of all funds raised at the Walk to Fight Alzheimer’s® stay in New Jersey and support New Jersey individuals and families!

Individuals and families are encouraged to participate in Alzheimer’s New Jersey Northern Regional Walk to Fight Alzheimer’s® and work together to meet or exceed Alzheimer’s New Jersey’s fundraising goal.

Special thanks to Shelley Steiner LSW, MSW, MPH, Support Group Coordinator, Alzheimer’s New Jersey, for notification of this special fundraising event.
